ADEJ: Japan's Dive Potential and the Rise of Eco-Conscious Tourism
This past weekend, HelloDive team was delighted to visit the Asia Dive Expo Japan (ADEJ), held from September 26th to 28th at Tokyo Big Sight. The expo offered us valuable insights into emerging destinations and conversations surrounding ocean health.
From Highly Sought-After Spots to Hidden Gems
This summer, we saw tremendous interest and a high volume of consultation requests from Chinese divers for popular Japan dive spots such as: Mikomoto Island for hammerhead shark encounters, Tateyama for Shark Scrumble and underwater shrine and Okinawa which is always a top destination for its reliable beauty and diversity.
Besides these sought-after Spots, from this Expo, we are very exited to know some of Japan's best-kept secrets, for example, Amami Oshima in Kagoshima Prefecture. We believe these destinations hold enormous promise for future dive tourism and we are very interested in introducing these amazing spots to our Chinese travelers.
A Unified Voice for Sustainability
Beyond the travel inspiration, the key theme running through the three days was marine conservation and responsible tourism. We were particularly inspired by the stage events, which featured numerous expert speakers, including seasoned dive professionals, underwater photographers, and environmental NGOs.
As a media partner of Green Fins in mainland China, we also noticed some shifts in Chinese dive culture:
• Younger generations of travelers are increasingly seeking out eco-conscious suppliers over simply enjoying beautiful islands and luxury resorts.
• There is a growing willingness to engage in marine conservation-related volunteer activities and make responsible choices that minimize their environmental impact.
This growing demand for sustainability and responsible travel is exactly where HelloDive aims to lead. Moving forward, we will be developing more specialized products focused on marine conservation and responsible travel for the Chinese diving community. Furthermore, we will work more closely with Green Fins to embed environmental responsibility deeply into our operations, ensuring HelloDive is a truly responsible enterprise in the dive industry.
